I don't claim to be an expert, but recently I've noticed that as well as songs you write about stuff that's happened, and stuff that you want to happen, some songs turn out to be about stuff that will happen. And does.

I think there's elements of self-fulfilling prophecy, but mostly it's because one part of your brain is coming to terms with some unpleasant truths that you're not quite ready to admit to yourself.
